National Museum of the United States Army
Gropen collaborated with the U.S. Army Foundation to design, fabricate, and install a comprehensive donor recognition system for the National Museum of the United States Army. The project included interior and exterior recognition elements, ranging from a prominent black granite wall in the main lobby to exterior carved stone tributes with custom colored crests. Additional features consisted of acid-etched stainless steel, UV screen-printed acrylics, and flexible design elements to allow for cost-effective updates over time.
The design approach balanced simplicity, durability, and aesthetic precision, complementing the museum’s modern architecture—a clean, stainless steel cube—while honoring donors in a meaningful and visually impactful way. Gropen continues to provide ongoing support for updating and maintaining these recognition systems, ensuring long-term functionality and relevance.
This project exemplifies Gropen’s ability to honor donors with visually impactful, durable recognition systems that enhance the museum’s architecture and long-term storytelling.
